H.E. Eng. Alaa Batayneh
Minister of Public Works and Housing

Eng. Batayneh got his first Ministerial appointment in 2007 as Minister of Transport and then in 2009 as Minister of Public Works & Housing. Prior to that, Eng. Batayneh held the positions of Director General of the Jordan Customs and the Secretary General of the Ministry of Transport. He also worked for the private sector in Jordan the UK and the USA.
Eng. Batayneh served as the chairman of the Housing & Urban Development Corporation and the Jordanian National Building Council
Eng. Batayneh is recipient of the Grand Cordon of the Order of independence and the Grand Cross of the Order of Orange – Nassau. During his mandate, the Jordan Custom received the King Abdullah II Award for Excellence in Government Performance and Transparency for best achievement for a government agency for the year 2006.

Eng. Batayneh holds a Masters degree in Management Information Systems from The George Washington University Washington DC – USA.
